Hi Marelene, my first surgery was at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl. (Dr. Link) it started out to be a bypass surgery but I kept clogging off so he done a musle flap (took my jaw musle and attached it to my brain) my second surgery was in Orlando (Dr. Baker) (Dr. Link moved to the Mayo Clinic in Minn. after my surgery) Dr. Baker done the surgery where he used my temple musle. Now Moyamoya is a progressive diease, although not many progressive as fast as I have.....I do have a little friend Stevie that had his first 2 surgery's when he was 3 & 4 but had to have surgery on both sides again at 9 years old. (he had the augmentive surgery) (probably spelled that wrong) it's where they took his stomach musle and brought it thru his chest and up his neck to his brain. He had a scar on his stomach, chest and neck. Dr. Steinberg done his 3rd and 4th surgery. Minn. Mayo Clinic done his frst and second.
I have diabities, high cholostrol, and high blood pressure, all of which are not good especially with this diease. So I knew from the start that I would probably have more problems than most people with moyamoya.
And YES I still have lots of problems with my balance----since I fell backwards from 3 feet and landed on the back of my head and had 10 staples, then fell 2 days later and hit the same spot on my entertainment center, and I have not been the same since.....Elaine
