Welcome Helen! You've come to the right place for information and support. This is a wonderful group of people. They have helped me and my family through the same thing you're going through.

First, I'd like to say that, Yes, moyamoya is a rare disease, but that doesn't necessarily mean that your sister won't make it. I do not know your sister's history or circumstances, but with the right doctor, generally, this condition is definately manageable and treatable. DJ, who has moyamoya and started this web site, has gathered an enormous amount of great information right here on this web site, to answer almost anything for you, and if it's a personal question, he'll answer that too, along with so many others who are willing to help you in any way they can. My advice to you is learn all you can about it. The information is right here. The more you know about it, the less fear you'll have of the unknown. You will see how many others have over come strokes and all kind of adversity. DJ has all the info on the best doctors in the country for this condition and how to contact them.

Any specific questions....ask away!

Good luck and know that You and your sister will be in my prayers.

God Bless,
