We couldn't find strokes at an early age or anything close to that either, but we did find that Mandy,(my niece who has moyamoya) both her grandmothers had brain disorders, Alzheimer's and depression type illness. Infact, at first...that's what the doctors misdiagnosed Mandy with... "Depression" Of course I believe that was due to their lack of knowledge about Moyamoya, but we are so curious as to the brain disorders and also alot of heart problems on both sides and whether that has anything to do with it??? It sure makes you wonder!
They just don't know enough about it yet, I guess.
Their was a wonderful post on the guest page from a woman who said her daughter had moyamoya and after both surgeries, she had a baby and everything went well, that sure helped me and gave me hope for my niece, but it didn't answer your question as to whether it can get passed on. I don't know... I certainly will say my prayers on that one.
I bet the doctors don't know for sure either.
