I don't think we're talking burr holes on mine. They will replace strips of skull on the top of my head and replace the skull strips with titanium plates with holes in them. My friends talk about it as the "piggy bank" effect. The plates with holes allows for my head to grow colateral vessels from the outside of my skull to the inside. Probably same concept maybe...
I had an ECIC last time around on the right side just above my ear. They cannot do a bypass this time because there's not a good main artery to bypass to. It kinda went away over the last 4 years.
