I understand where your coming from. I tried to get Tyler on disability. He's diagnosed with Mild Cerebral Palsy, Hearing loss (wear's hearing aids in both ears), Speech deficeit (75% intelligbility to strangers), Learning Disability (reads at a 2nd grade level at 11-years old), but since he's well behaved he's not disabled. He is on Medicaid because our income is low, but right now we are fighting to get permission to go to Dr. Steinberg for surgery. I'm wondering how many strokes he has to have to get help? I think with his stroke they might consider him disabled now, but I'm fighting for his surgery and just don't have the energy to prove he's disabled, right now.
I'm sorry your friend has to fight with the government. Unfortunately, her daughter will need to have a severe disability to qualify. If your friend has the strenght and can find a good lawyer, to help fight for a few years she might be approved. But then, they only go back a year, so that still won't help for this year.
If you learn of anyway to get around this situation, please let me know. I will have your friend in my prayers.
