Hi everyone! This is the first time that I have posted but I have been reading this board for about a month and half since our daughter was diagnoised with Moyamoya disease. This as everyone here knows has been so hard for me and my family. Our Allyssa was in the hospital for a month after having a stroke that left her with her right side very weak and it affected her speech as well. After doing alot of test we were told after a week that she has moyamoya disease and that the MRI showed that she had had a minor stroke about a month before. We were devastated. Today April 26th she is walking, talking and she seems almost normal, you would never know that anything has happened to her and that she is so sick. Allyssa is scheduled for her surgery on both sides of her brain on May 16th here in Orlando FL where we live. As you can imagine I am terrified about the whole surgery but I have faith in god that everything is going to be fine. It's so scary to think that they are going to operate on my baby's brain. We are staying strong together as a family, Allyssa has 3 older sisters and I believe that they had alot to do with her recovery from her stroke. A month or so has gone by and I still feel numb at times and feel like this is all a dream. I have my moments where I just cry and cry but there are times that I look at her and see how strong she is and how much of a fighter she is and I know everything is going to be fine she gives me that strength. On top of all this Allyssa was a preemie, she was born at 29 1/2 weeks weighing 2lbs 5oz. 14 in. long and she beat the odds then and I know she will again. Thank you for letting me share my story. Please pray for us and please tell me your stories. Thank you! God bless you! Annette, Allyssa & Family
