Hi, I am the motehr of Louise who had her doublesided surgery 3 months ago. She is doing well and was perfectly healthy before the Moyamoya started to show in August 2002. I´ve had very little information from the doctors and since I am not from England, Australia or USA I am having difficulty in understanding all the medical information on the internet. I have only found 1 (!) internetpage in Swedish and it is from 1998. So here is my question thats driving me crazy day and night: How is the long-term-prognozis for young children with Moyamoya? Will the arteries go on blocking and destroying themselves even after surgery? Does anyone know? I really need to know!!!!!
To all of you who have children waiting for for surgery: Hang in there, your kids are going to be fine. The surgery is no big risk but the Moyamoya itself is a monster!!!
